Patent Attorney / Patent Agent – Mechanical & Electrical Engineering

I’m recruiting for a well-established and growing intellectual property law firm in beautiful Old Town Alexandria seeking a Patent Attorney or Patent Agent to join its patent prosecution practice.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong Mechanical Engineering and/or Electrical Engineering background who enjoys substantive patent preparation and prosecution work and is looking for a collaborative firm with strong mentorship and long-term growth potential.
The ideal candidate will have:
• A degree/background in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline
• USPTO registration or the ability to become registered
• Experience with patent preparation and prosecution, including drafting patent applications, claims, and responses to USPTO Office Actions
• Ability to understand complex technologies and work directly with inventors
• Strong technical, analytical, writing, and communication skills
• Attorney candidates should be admitted to a U.S. state bar
The firm is particularly interested in candidates with experience involving mechanical, electrical, electromechanical, semiconductor, software, telecommunications, or related technologies.
